FAQs

Yes, absolutely! While starting from Day 1 is ideal, new students are always welcome. Just be sure to sign up at least 48 hours in advance to secure their spot. Term fees will be pro-rated at $20 per session for the remaining weeks in the term.
Possibly! The age ranges help me pitch sessions at an appropriate skill level and select age-appropriate contexts. If your child is only slightly outside the ranges, you’re welcome to book them into a class, but please consider whether they’ll feel comfortable with slightly younger or older peers. At this stage, I’m not accepting students outside the 6–15 age range, but I’d love to expand classes in the future! Feel free to get in touch at kath@prosfordstudio.co.nz and I’ll make a note of your interest.

The street parking outside the studio on Prosford Street is limited to a maximum of 120 minutes between 8am - 6pm, Monday to Friday. Please avoid using the off-street parking area to the right of the studio as it is reserved for Hillebrand staff working in the office upstairs.

At peak times, allow a few extra minutes to find a space. There are usually parking spots available on Provost Street (residential), and some short-term parking on Blake Street on the stretch between Prosford Street and Jervois Road. Students coming from Ponsonby Intermediate can use the walkway from the back courts to cut through to Prosford Street.

Payments are made via bank transfer to my business account (attheminute Limited). The payment details will be emailed to you after registration. For group classes, payment for the term is due after the free trial session, should you wish to continue. For 1:1 tutoring, payments can be made weekly per session.
Because I love them! But there’s more to it than that—the performing arts offer so many benefits, including boosting confidence, improving communication, fostering creativity, and teaching teamwork. These skills extend far beyond the stage and classroom, helping students navigate life with resilience and adaptability.
At this stage, the classes are predominantly skills-based. However, if the students are ready and confident, there will be an informal opportunity to perform a few pieces for parents at the end of the term. If this is applicable, it will be communicated to you at the end of the second-to-last session.

Comfortable, easy-to-move-in clothing is ideal for Musical Theatre and Drama classes. Dance shoes aren’t necessary, but please ensure your child wears closed-toe shoes for Musical Theatre. Students should also bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.

For Writing and Tutoring, all necessary stationery will be provided, though students are welcome to bring their own pencil case if preferred. For Reading tutoring, it’s helpful for students to bring their levelled readers from school for guided practice.

You’re welcome to stay for the first few minutes while your child gets settled, but I kindly ask that you leave after that so they can fully focus on the class. At the end of a session, you’re more than welcome to come in and see the work your child has done. Please wait outside until invited in to avoid interrupting any ongoing activities.

If students are ready to share a piece of work or short performance, I’ll open the main doors and invite you in for the last five minutes of the session. Sometimes students may feel they’re not ready to share or perform in front of others and I kindly ask for your understanding and support in respecting their feelings.

There is a small foyer area where a few people can wait during inclement weather, however please note that there is no seating available. Additionally, the stairway upstairs leads to the Hillebrand office, so please keep the walkway clear and noise to a minimum during regular office hours (Monday to Friday).
You can reach me via email at kath@prosfordstudio.co.nz and I will reply to you as soon as I can.
